Description: Large oval shaped pond along Holly Hill. Seen from 2nd edition OS. Dark shading on aerial view.

A borehole survey was carried out at the site in 2025 in advance of proposed restoration works. One borehole was drilled at the lower pond. This reached a depth of 1.75m and recorded a sequence of topsoil overlying a silt pond fill, overlying a series of silts, silt clays, and silt sands. The lower deposits are interpreted as forming part of the Clay-with flints formation, possibly dating from the Pleistocene. This pond is likely to have been established at some time between 1897-1900. (2)
