Preservation:Pond on historic maps but not visible on current OS (ghost pond)
Pond shape:Rectangular
Site type: Dew pond (or sole pond)
Description: Large rectangular shaped pond along a footpath/track, to the east of Punish Farm. Doesn't appear until 2nd edition OS. Not obvious on 1m Lidar.
Recorded date: 27/11/2024 (1)
A borehole survey was carried out at the site in 2025 in advance of proposed restoration works. One borehole was drilled which reached 0.81m in depth below ground level and recorded a sequence of topsoil overlying two deposits of colluvium likely from sediment run-off. The deposits contained fragments of concrete which are interpreted as having originated from the concrete base. (2)
