Monument record TR 03 NW 172 - Late Neolithic flint distribution, Park Farm, Ashford

Summary

A trial trenching evaluation carried out in 1992 found an extensive distribution of 145 flint artefacts, mainly of late Neolithic date. These were mostly flakes and blades though two cores were found. The presences of a flint slug knife and a tranchet-ended chisel suggested a late Neolithic date. A high proportion were fresh flakes and suggested a local source and local use. The contractors suggest that a settlement is probable.
