Full Description
A possible Second World War gun emplacement or searchlight battery, at TR 3563 6449, part of the coast defences between Cliffsend and Ramsgate visible on aerial photographs taken in 1941. The site comprised a large semi-circular emplacement open to the west with a rectilinear strucutre to the south obscured by turf, a single small building and a small gun emplacement suggesting this was a searchlight. It has been mapped as part of the Historic England: Ramsgate HAZ project. This site appears to have been superceded by a more simple emplacement visible on RAF 1946 aerial photographs.(1)
