Full Description

A prize vessel, captured in 1681, she was under repair at Chatham Dockyard, when she caught fire and was totally destroyed. Whilst the exact cause was never fully established, it was assumed that a candle fell over in the cook's cabin. Whilst rescuers were able to drag him from his bunk, thick smoke forced them to leave the area, having dropped the unconscious cook in the bread-room. (1)(2)
