During excavations associated with the construction of two blocks of new dwellings on land at 135 All Saints Avenue in Margate, sherds of Neolithic pottery were uncovered. These sherds were recovered residual in later features or can be implied to be residual. Worn sherds of Peterborough type pottery from this period were obtained from deposit 306 fill of pit cut 307; deposits 3004, fill of cut 3005 and deposit 3020 (cut 3010) both fills of two parallel linear ditches. Similar pottery was found in fill 3028 of pit 3029 and 3060, fill of 3065. Further sherds were found in deposit 3038; fill of gully cut 3039 at the intersection of ditch 3040 and the gully. Ditch 3040 produced only pot sherds of this date at the terminus, further sections (deposits 304, cut 305 and deposit 3030 cut 3031) produced no pottery. (information summarised from source) (1)
