Full Description
Surfaces associated with an 18th century coal yard were excavated at Standard Quay, Faversham during an evaluation in 2016. Coal and chalk surfaces were identified at around 0.68-1.2m below ground level and have been interpreted as deposits associated with the coal workings at the site. The surfaces may have made up part of the coal yard surface. Documentary sources indicate that the coal yard has been present at the site since the 18th century. (1)
