Full Description

'Deal, January 8th. The 6th at night, the SURPRIZE brigantine, Captain Tibb from the West Indies, was drove ashore in St. Margaret's Bay, and stranded, and thirteen men and one woman were drowned.' (1)

`On the 5th instant in the evening, a brigantine of London, called the SURPRISE, Captain Tibbe commander, from Antegoe, drove ashore in St. Margaret's Bay, and all the people on board were lost, viz. 13 men and one woman.' (2)
