Full Description
A ring ditch of a possible round barrow unknown date was excavated by Hurd during excavations carried out in 1908 ahead of the development of South Cliff Parade. Though no dating evidence or associated burials were found it was noted that the feature was cut by a later rectangular enclosure ditch with is thought to have an Iron Age date. It is one of several known from the area, others appear to date to the Early Bronze Age and it is possible that this example is also Bronze Age and forms part of a cemetery in this location. (1)
