Full Description
Former Police Station, High Street, Tenterden as shown on the 2nd Edition O/S map. This building served as the Borough Police Station and lockup from 1884 until 1956. It is currently a hair salon. Prior to the Police Station the site was occupied by a wooden toll house and town lockuo which were built with the tollgate in 1762. A new Police Station was opened in Oaks Road in 1956. This was closed in 2002 and the site was then redeveloped for housing.
