Full Description
A Second World War sniper position was identified during archaeological investigations carried out in 2015 at Ospringe Street, Faversham. A building survey was subsequently carried out at the site in 2017 to record the structure. The building recording describes the structure as "located just by the east entrance to the Barkaway premises and is cut through on the exterior face of green painted corrugated
iron sheeting. The square hole is roughly cut out with tin shears and measures about 15 x 15cm and is located about 35cm above the present ground surface...The internal aperture has been cut through two courses of bricks and is now blocked up. It measures about 15 x 15cm and is located about 60cm above thepresent ground surface" (from the original report, 1).
