Full Description

Neolithic worked flint and pottery was identified at Stones Farm, Sittingbourne during an evaluation carried out in 2018. The work was completed in advance of proposed residential development at the site. The assemblage included a leaf arrowhead and an unfinished arrowhead; the leaf arrowhead was recovered from the fill of a ditch tentatively dated to the Roman period. The majority of the Neolithic assemblage was dated to the Middle - Late Neolithic, with some pieces potentially Early Neolithic in date. Worked flint dating to the Bronze Age to Iron Age periods (TQ 96 SW 1299, TQ 96 SW 1300) was also identified in association with later features at the site. (1)
