Full Description

`The HETTY, Greg, from Antigua...drove ashore near Ramsgate.' (1)

'Extract of a letter from Deal, December 2. "Yesterday blowed a storm of wind at SW between 2 and 3 o'clock...the HETTY, Gregg, from Antigua; the BLESSING, Wheeler, for Oporto, foundered, and the crews were taken up by the PROVIDENCE."' (3)

NB: Source (2) gives the date of loss as the reporting date of 04-DEC-1747; however, the mention of a storm in the Downs on 01-DEC-1747, heads a list of casualties in the Kent area in source (1), and the date of 01-DEC-1747 is confirmed in source (3).

Source (2) assigns London as the place of destination.
