Full Description

`...the POSTBROOK, St. Barbe, from South Carolina...drove ashore near Ramsgate.' (1)

'The POSTBROOKE, St. Barbe, from Carolina, last from Cowes, for London, is ashore off Ramsgate, but part of the cargo will be saved.' (3)

NB: Source (2) gives the date of loss as the reporting date of 04-DEC-1747; however, the mention of a storm in the Downs on 01-DEC-1747, heads a list of the casualties in the Kent area in source (1), so this would appear to be a plausible candidate for the date of loss.

Source (2) is based on source (1) and therefore follows that spelling of the vessel's name.

Master: St Barbe (1)(2)(3)
