The Recreation ground is visible on the 2nd (1897-1900), 3rd (1907-1923) , 4th (1929-1952) ed OS maps and the modern map. The Recreation ground started as an open space behind the sea wall, by the 1890 a band stand was built, also anouther building (not identified on the 2nd ed OS map) this building is identified as the Swimming Bath on the 3rd ed OS map. On the 4th ed OS map a Play ground, Putting green, Tennis courts, Bowling green and Pavilion are visible,the Bandstand has been moved to the otherside of the swimming pool.
