Full Description
The earthworks of a possible post medieval drain and flanking bank can be seen on aerial photographs taken in 1947. These are towards the eastern end of Cooling Marshes, centred on TQ 7658 7744. This drain was disused in 1947 but once connected with drains to the north and south. It is not marked on the 1894 Ordnance Survey map and possibly represents an earlier subdivision of the marshes. This site was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.
