Full Description
The earthworks of a possible post medieval drain and flanking bank can be seen on aerial photographs taken in 1947. This drain is situated between Cooling's old sea defences and Hope Fleet at TQ 7707 7804. The drain is disused and appears to have connected Hope Fleet to the drain running alongside the old sea bank. This drain was not marked on the 1894 Ordnance Survey map and represents an earlier subdivision of the marshes. This site was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.(1-2)
