Full Description
A post medieval sheepfold is depicted on the 1894 Ordnance Survey map towards the southern end of Cooling Marshes at TQ 7586 7720. The remains of this sheepfold can also be seen on aerial photographs taken in 1953. They are situated on a small mound which may be the remains of a medieval saltern (see NMR 1534890). It has since been demolished. This site was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. (1-4)
