Full Description
The earthworks of a possible post medieval drain can be seen on aerial photographs taken in 1947. These are towards the south eastern end of Cooling Marshes, centred on TQ 7636 7679. This drain was disused in 1947 but once connected with drains to the north west and south east. It is not marked on the 1894 Ordnance Survey map and may represent an earlier subdivision of the marshes. It appears to have since been levelled. This site was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.(1-3)
