Monument record TQ 75 NE 968 - Sandling Mill, Boxley, Tonbridge and Malling

Summary

Former pre-1790 water-powered flour and fulling mill. When recorded in 1976, it was a three-storeyed brick-built mill and house, the mill section being used as a domestic kitchen and workshop. The millpond had dried out, the mill wheel had been removed, and the tail-race was fullm of clinker. The tailrace continues underground and meets the Medway near the Malta Inn. The site is now Malta Cottage.
