Full Description

'The -, Pelly…is sunk in Pegwell Bay - ten sail of French fishing boats were drove ashore in the said bay.' (1)

'London, Sept. 2…We have an account by the said express [yesterday] that there has lately happened round the west coast a terrible hurricane…

'In the said hurricane ten sail of French fishing vessels was lost and drove ashore in Pegwell Bay.' (3)

NB: The storm referred to is known to have begun on 26-AUG-1752.
