Full Description
`The schooner LUCY AND ALIDA, Cumming, from Africa to London, is on shore near Margate. The cargo is expected to be saved.' (1)
'THE LATE STORM. - Our accounts from all parts of the coast give melancholy details of the effects of the tremendous gale of Friday morning last, but its fury seems to have been most felt on the north eastern shore from the Nore to the North Foreland. Independently of what our post letters furnish, we have collected the following particulars, which we fear are not the full extent of the calamities:-
'The wind blew from NE to NNW and was preceded by a high spring tide, which was happily, lower by some feet, and less destructive in its effects than that of the 13th Jan. last . . .
'The schooner LUCY AND ALIDA, Captain Cummings, from the coast of Guinea, for London, cut her cable and went on shore in Marsh Bay; the cargo is damaged, but it is expected that the vessel will be got off.' (4)
`The LUCY AND ALIDA, -, from Africa, was got off the shore near Margate 13th instant, and put into that harbour.' (3)
