`Deal 18: Early this morning a most tremendous gale suddenly arose from the north, attended with snow, which has made great destruction amont the shipping in the Downs.' (1)

`...a similar fate [stranding and loss of all on board] attending this ship in St. Margaret's Bay.' (2)

19 February, aftermath of the gale...`of the crew of the ship which foundered off here, we can hear nothing.' (3)
