`The SAMUEL AND ELIZABETH, Parker, from London to Liverpool, in attempting to get into Ramsgate on Saturday night struck the East Pier and went on shore on the Main. The cargo has been landed and the vessel was expected to be got off.' (2)

Source (1) expresses the date of loss as 31-DEC-1816, whilst citing a reference in LL. dated 02-JAN-1816. In fact it appears in LL. of 31-DEC-1816, referring to an incident on 28-DEC-1816. The text quoted in (1) does not appear in the LL. text found; no other source is cited.
