Full Description

A probable Second World War bomb crater seen as a circular earthwork depression at TQ 8238 7845 measuring c.9m in diameter. This is one of a line of four craters which are probably from the same air raid which were mapped from 1947 RAF aerial photographs and mapped as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. This bomb crater lies within the limits of a Second World War minefield (NMR Monument Number: 1536303). There is no evidence of exploded mines around the bomb crater (as seen at points along the length of the minefield) indicating that the bomb fell after the mines had been lifted. (1)
