Summary

A rectangular enclosure, possibly defined by a wire fence, seen on 1951 RAF aerial photographs lying within Grain Marshes to the north-east of the Yantlet Velocity Testing Range. The axis of the range is aligned exactly on the enclosure suggesting that the two are associated with one another, though it is not possible to identify the purpose of the enclosure from the aerial photographs. The enclosure was mapped from aerial photograhs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.

Full Description

A rectangular enclosure, possibly defined by a wire fence, seen at TQ 8719 7776 lying within Grain Marshes to the north-east of the Yantlet Velocity Testing Range. The enclosure measured c.65m x 53m and was seen on 1951 RAF aerial photographs. The axis of the range is aligned exactly on the enclosure suggesting that the two are associated with one another, though it is not possible to identify the purpose of the enclosure from the aerial photographs.

The enclosure was mapped from aerial photograhs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. (1)
