Full Description
Evidence for Iron Age and Roman settlement under Rochester Cathedral. Excavations in 1990 in the angle between the West side of the North transept and the North nave wall revealed two 1st sentury AD pits with Belgic pottery. The interpretation of the Roman deposits suggests that the area was open ground peripheral to the main Roman settlement. (1)
