Summary

A small hospital and chapel was built by one Samuel for lodging poor people, at `Shamele', in the reign of King John. After his death it fell down, but was rebuilt and the chapel and hermitage were under Silvester in 1255. He had become an Austin friar before 1255, but renounced the order in 1256. In 1288, an inquisition found the buildings to have been sold and destroyed. (location accurate to the nearest 1km - precise location not known)
