Two small Second World War gun emplacements or weapons pits, visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1947, have been mapped as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. The features appear as small pits surrounded by slight banks, and are located on the southern part of Hoo Common, overlooking Upnor and the Medway.
