Two Second World War gun emplacements or weapons pits, visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in the 1940s, have been mapped as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. The features are located on Hoo Common, adjacent to the eastern side of the Beacon Hill First World War anti aircraft battery and about 85m from a Second World War military camp.
