Full Description
TQ 7782 7344. Second World War military support buildings. A cluster of small concrete structures, possibly representing ammunition stores, adjacent to and associated with a pillbox on the north side of Radcliffe Highway, have been mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. The structures and pillbox would have formed part of the supporting defences of the Hoo Stop Line which lies less than 100m to the east. The structures are visible on photographs taken in 1944 and 1952, but had apparently been removed by 1961. Their location is also adjacent to the site of a Royal Observer Corps underground monitoring post, but they are not apparently associated with the later structure. (1-2)
