Monument record TQ 77 NW 1322 - The Farthing Wall, a former sea wall which extends north for c.560m from Cliffe into the former area of marshland

The Farthing Wall, a former sea wall centred at TQ 7377 7715 which extends north for c.560m from Cliffe into the former area of marshland. between TQ 7380 7684 and TQ 7365 7738. The wall is recorded on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey map and on all subsequent editions up to the present day. However, it is not clear when the wall was constructed. The wall is now a causeway flanked by drainage ditches carrying a track into the marshes. Fields are accessed by small bridges or causeways. This was recorded during the course of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. (1-4)
