Full Description
`Ramsgate, 13th Jan. The HUSSAREN, Gibson, from Cape of Good Hope to London, is on shore on Sandwich Flats, and full of water, after losing both anchors and cables in the Downs.
`14th Jan. The HUSSAREN, Gibson, was last night abandoned by the crew; there is no hope of her being got off. The water flows over her every tide, the masts have been cut away to righten her, and she is surrounded by boats getting out the cargo, the greater part of which will be saved if the weather continues mdoerate.' Wind conditions at Deal on the 13th `SW - blows hard - W - more moderate.' (1)
`Ramsgate, 16th Jan. It blew very hard from the eastward, in consequence of which the HUSSAREN, from the Cape of Good Hope, ashore on Sandwich Flats, went to pieces; the wreck and part of her cargo is strewed along the shore; the goods are collecting and bringing to store.' (2)
