NB: Prior to the introduction of the Gregorian Calendar in England in 1752, the New Year began on 25th March each year. Thus dates between 1st January and 24th March are often given in contemporary sources as the previous year [Old Style] by modern reckoning, in this case 06-JAN-1727. According to modern [New Style] reckoning, the date is 06-JAN-1728, confirmed by the date of departure of 29-DEC-1729 in source (2), and has been expressed accordingly in the record. (3)
