Full Description
From several London prints, November 28...On Tuesday last it blowing a very hard storm in the Downs, two ships were driven ashore to the northward of Sandown Castle; one is the JOSEPH AND JANE of Whitby, Capt. Higgison, bound from Alicant to London...but the crews and cargo of both ships are saved. (1)
NB: At this period "Tuesday last" could mean equally "last Tuesday", i.e. the Tuesday just past, or "Tuesday last week"; the date of the incident is therefore given as both 19-NOV-1734 and 26-NOV-1734.
