Full Description
Pond, visible on the 1st and 2nd edition OS maps. Recorded during 2024 Kent Downs National Landscape Historic Ponds project.
Preservation: Whole pond clearly visible on current OS/LIDAR
Pond shape: Kidney/half-moon
Site type: Unsure
Description: Small pond- part of a larger series at Great Dowles Farm. This one now appears as a much larger excavation on the LIDAR. There are 4 small ponds within and just abutting this one field. One of the four appears to remain today but a site visit is needed for greater clarity. Some appear to be within the gardens of some cottages so may not be suiltable for restoration. Now appears to be under trees.
