Dew pond (or sole pond), visible on the 1st and 2nd edition OS maps. Recorded during 2024 Kent Downs National Landscape Historic Ponds project.
Preservation: Pond on historic maps but not visible on current OS (ghost pond)
Pond shape: Rectangular
Site type: Spring fed Dew pond (or sole pond)
Description: Seen from 1st edition OS as a spring-fed pond, marked on the 2nd edition as 'Hammel Pond'. Now shown on modern OS as just a spring. The A21 runs very close just below, maybe construction of this meant the pond had to be backfilled?
