Historic pond, visible on the 1st and 2nd edition OS maps. Recorded during 2024 Kent Downs National Landscape Historic Ponds project.
Preservation: Whole pond clearly visible on current OS/LIDAR
Pond shape: Circular/oval
Site type: Former extractive pit (e.g chalk, clay, gravel)
Description: Oval shaped pond along a field boundary seen from 1st edition OS. Now within a woodland shaw. Very clear on 1m LiDAR. 2nd edition OS notes that this pond is north of 'Brickfield Cottages' meaning this pond is likely to be some kind of pit. According to HER, a lodge used to be sited next to this pond.
