Historic pond, visible on the 1st and 2nd edition OS maps. Recorded during 2024 Kent Downs National Landscape Historic Ponds project.
Preservation: Part of pond clearly visible on current OS/LIDAR
Pond shape: Circular/oval
Site type: Former extractive pit (e.g chalk, clay, gravel)
Description: This appears to be a moderately sized chalk pit - amid other extractive pits in the area. A feature is still evident - part of it clear on LIDAR and excavation with some scrub clear on the LIDAR. Unclear if holds water - site visit recommended.
