Full Description
Historic pond, visible on the 1st and 2nd edition OS maps. Recorded during 2024 Kent Downs National Landscape Historic Ponds project.
Preservation: Whole pond clearly visible on current OS/LIDAR
Pond shape: Rectangular
Site type: Former extractive pit (e.g chalk, clay, gravel)
Description: This and adjacent pond appear to have been part of a wider area of excavation which clearly shows on the lidar. The ponds appear to be within private gardens now. They could possibly have been associated with the Waltham Court workhouse.
