Maritime record TQ 87 SW 32 - Unidentified wreck, Stoke Saltings
Summary
The remains of the hulk of the English barge Champion on Stoke Saltings. Champion was built in Ipswich in 1861 and had a succession of owners, the last being Goldfinch. Champion had been abandoned on Stoke Saltings by 1946 (the date of the earliest available aerial photographs) and her outline could just be made out on aerial photographs taken in 2007. This craft was mapped as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.
