Summary

A Second World War bombing decoy located at Burmarsh. It was built to deflect enemy bombing from Royal Air Force Newchurch temporary airfield, which was operational between 1943 and 1944. This was a 'Q-type' night decoy that displayed a series of lights to simulate an active airfield. Aerial photography shows that by 1979 the site had been given over to agricultural use and no features of the decoy survive.

Full Description

A Second World War 'Q-type' bombing decoy located at Burmarsh (TR 086 326). It was constructed to deflect enemy bombing from Royal Air Force Newchurch airfield. No date of use is given. (1)

Aerial photography shows that by 1979 the site had been given over to agricultural use and no features of the decoy survive. (2)
