Full Description
The former Whitfield Hall/Institute, Bank Street, Ashford as shown on the 2nd and 3rd Edition )/S maps. The building has since been converted into commercial premises as shown on the current O/S map. The Hall was opened in 1874 as a memorial to Mr Henry Whitfield and the enlarged in 1893, adding a billiard room and gymnasium. It was used for public meetings and lectures, including the Ashford Institite, and held 250 people.
