Summary

Site of a Second World War Diver Battery in the Kentish Gun Belt at Chiddingstone. It was armed with eight mobile 3.7-inch guns, which were progressively replaced with 3.7-inch Mark IIC guns, and manned by 434 Battery of Independent Regiment of the 40th Anti Aircraft Brigade. It was initially equipped with Predictor AA No.10 and No.3 Mark V radar. This site formed part of the second deployment (first reinforcement) of the Diver Gun Belt , when 96 x 3.7-inch guns were deployed on twelve sites, which was completed by June 25th 1944.
