A Royal Observer Corps monitoring post. The site is located between the first and second long mound (the remains of World War I rifle butts) on the top of low cliffs above The Esplanade and a few yards south of Wantsum Walk. 500 yards west of The Parade, Birchington. The site was built as part of an extensive network of posts designed to confirm and report hostile aircraft and nuclear attacks on the United Kingdom. At the time of the Defence of Britain survey (1995-2002) the site was found to have been destroyed. The site was opened during 1968 and closed in October 1968. No trace of anything is now visible. The post was only open for one exercise in 1968. (1-2)
