Site ofDeal & Walmer Institute/Public Rooms, Park Street, Deal as shown on the 1st and 2nd Edition O/S maps. The Institute opened its doors in 1864 for diverse entertainments , lectures etc. However, by 1884 the committee reported that the Institute was not used as much as before. Only the Reading Room and the Recreation Room were used. Then in 1903 the Institute moved to smaller premises on the High Street. The building subsequently demolished and the site is now a car park.
