Full Description

Vertical Datum: LAT Sank following a collision with SS HERO. (2) position 5.75 miles, South 88 deg East from dungeness light. 15-NOV-1976 Wreck located in 1956 stands 28ft high. 18-SEP-1977 In depth 20.8 general depth 27-28m, scour depth 31m height 8.4m length 68m. lying 010/190 deg. Charted as wreck 18.5m. 4-JUL-1983 Wreck thought probably to be HMS BLACKWATER. Damage apparently indicates she was struck on the starboard side amidships and virtually cut in two. Telegraph/revolution repeater recovered, cylindrical devices about 3ft long, 26 - 28ins diameter [possibly part of torpedoes or depth charges] remain on stern. Small arms also recovered. 11-SEP-1985 Application to purchase wreck made by J Short. 15-SEP-1989 Positively identified as HMS BLACKWATER - name plate recovered.
