Summary

The site of Warden Point coastal battery, part of the River Medway's coastal defence system. It opened between 1914-1916 and was armed with two mobile 15-pounder BLC field guns. The battery had been disarmed by the Second World War. It has since been removed and no features of the battery survive.

Full Description

Warden Point coastal battery located at TR 020 727. The battery opened between 1914-1916. It was armed with two 15-pounder BLC field guns. The battery was decommissioned by the Second World War, and was likely disarmed after 1927. (1-2)
Aerial photography from 1979 shows that the site has been given over to agricultural use, a coastal path and a caravan park. No surviving features of the coastal battery are recorded. (3)
