Full Description
Medway Crematorium was built in 1959 for Medway Council and was designed by Sir E Guy Dawber, Fox & Robinson. A low-lying building, of traditional design built of brick with pitched roofs. The plan is unususal with the two chapels arranged in a 'butterfly' configuration, joined by a central section, behind which is situated the central tower, housing the chimney. To the northwest is a small Chapel of Meditation. The Garden of Rest constitutes about a third of the grounds and is laid out informally. (1)
