Summary

A length of medieval or post medieval sea wall visible as an earthwork and mapped from aerial photographs taken in 1947 as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. The wall appeared as a sinuous earthwork embankment c. 200m in length. All but a small portion at the south-eastern end has now been destroyed by clay extraction for the local cement industry.

Full Description

A length of medieval or post medieval sea wall visible at TQ 7239 7640 as an earthwork and mapped from aerial photographs taken in 1947 as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. The wall appeared as a sinuous earthwork embankment c. 200m in length. All but a small portion at the south-eastern end has now been destroyed by clay extraction for the local cement industry. A length of sea wall to the NW (1531669) may be part of the same flood defence. (1)
